Game Recap

08/28/2010: Southwestern vs Falconer

The JV Spartans got off to a great start this season defeating the arch rival Falconer Junior Falcons 26-6 this past Saturday.

Brian Burns and Luke Heil sparked a powerful Spartan offense and the entire offensive line opened up huge holes the entire game.

Vinny Certo and Alex Calabrese led a very stingy Spartan defense that only gave up 1 TD the entire game and forced several 3 and out drives and even scored a touchdown of their own. The coaches were very pleased with the effort from the entire team on both sides of the ball, the kids played with enthusiasm, heart and desire until the final whistle blew.

The Junior Spartans take their well oiled machine on the road again this Saturday and will face the Westside Panthers at 1pm.

The Spartans Varsity team ran into a very tuff Falconer Junior Falcon football team Saturday night at Bill Race Field. The Falcons set the tone early scoring on their third play from scrimmage and never looked back downing the Spartans 20-0. Brandon Curtis scored all 3 of the Falcon TD’s and played very well on defense.

The Spartan offense could never get going but did settle down and put together some nice drives as the game progressed. Jarrett Yuchnitz led the offense on the ground and also played very well on defense.

Brendan Kennedy, Jackson Rybicki and Maddie Sullivan all played very well on defense for the Spartans. As coaches we were very proud of the effort the team gave as time ticked away. It would have been very easy for the players to quit after the quick 20-0 deficit, but they all showed a lot of heart and held the Falcons scoreless after the first quarter.

The Spartans are on the road again this week as they try and turn things around squaring off against the Westside Panthers Saturday at 3pm.
